Kinesiotaping:

Kinesiotaping gives support and stability to your joints and muscles without affecting circulation and range of motion. It is a technique based on the body's own healing process. A Kinesiotaping application simultaneously facilitates the reduction of edema, improves lymph and blood circulation and contributes, through proprioception, to the normalization of muscle function and the support of ligaments and tendons. The result is generally a rapid reduction of pain and improvement in the joint and muscle function. Kinesiotape is used to:

  • Re-educate the neuromuscular system
  • Reduce pain
  • Support performance
  • Prevent injury
  • Promote improved circulation and healing
  • Improve functional movement and positioning
If the space between skin and muscle is compromised, e.g. through muscle imflammation, there is reduced drainage of lymph - the lymphatic system is disrupted. This compression and the resultant restricted drainage of lymph stimulate the pain receptors in the skin leading to localized pain. If the skin in the affected area is stretched prior to the application of the Kinesiotape, the skin together with the tape forms wave-like convolutions on returning to the resting state. Through this lifting of the skin, the space between skin and subcutaneous tissues increases.
